Acne is not just a cosmetic concern, it is a medical condition that can significantly affect confidence and quality of life. Keeping in mind that severe acne can leave a lot of scars that are difficult to treat afterwards, so treating acne is time sensitive and the earlier the better. At our clinic in Amman, we are proud to introduce Accure®, an advanced laser device designed to target one of the root causes of acne: the sebaceous (oil) glands.
What is the Accure® device?
Accure® is a laser-based acne treatment that targets the sebaceous glands responsible for excess oil production, which plays a key role in acne development. Unlike treatments that only manage surface symptoms, Accure® is designed to address acne at its source.
What wavelength does Accure® use, and why is it important?
Accure® uses a 1726 nm laser wavelength, which is highly specific for lipids (fat). Sebaceous glands are rich in lipids, making this wavelength particularly effective for selectively targeting them.
This concept is known as selective photothermolysis:
- The laser energy is absorbed by the oil within the sebaceous gland
- The gland is heated and selectively damaged
- Surrounding skin structures are preserved
To enhance safety and comfort, Accure® also incorporates advanced cooling technology to protect the skin surface during treatment.
Who are the ideal candidates for Accure® acne treatment?
Accure® is suitable for:
- Patients with moderate to severe inflammatory acne
- Individuals with recurrent or persistent acne
- Patients who did not achieve satisfactory results with medications
- Those who wish to reduce long-term reliance on oral treatments
- Both teenagers and adults (after proper medical evaluation)
A consultation is essential to determine suitability.
When Should Accure® Be Considered Instead of Isotretinoin?
Accure® is an excellent alternative for patients who cannot safely use isotretinoin or who wish to avoid its systemic side effects. It may be preferred in patients who:
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
- Have severe dry eyes or other eye surface problems
- Have elevated liver enzymes or liver disease
- Experience significant isotretinoin side effects such as severe dryness, fatigue, or muscle and joint pain
- Have a history of depression, bipolar disorder, or mood changes
- Find it difficult to commit to long-term oral medication, frequent lab tests, or intensive skin and lip care routines
Who may not be suitable for Accure®?
Accure® may not be ideal for:
- Active skin infections in the treatment area like impetigo or herpes
- Certain photosensitive conditions
- Patients currently on specific medications affecting healing
What should patients expect during the session?
- Treatment is performed in-clinic
- The skin is cleansed and prepared
- topical anesthesia is added , some patient with low pain threshold we can perform nerve block
- Patients may feel warmth or mild discomfort, which is minimized by cooling
- A session typically lasts 20–30 minutes, depending on the area
How many sessions are needed?
Most patients require 3 to 4 sessions for optimal results. The exact number depends on acne severity, skin type, and individual response.
What is the interval between sessions?
Sessions are usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart. This allows the sebaceous glands to respond gradually and safely to treatment.
When can results be expected?
- Improvement is often noticed after the first or second session
- Acne reduction continues over several months
- Many patients report long‑term improvement, even after completing the treatment course
Results vary from patient to patient
What side effects can occur after treatment?
Accure® is generally well tolerated. Possible temporary effects include:
- Mild redness
- Slight swelling
- Warmth or tenderness in the treated area
These effects typically resolve within hours to a few days. There is minimal to no downtime, and patients can usually resume normal activities quickly
In Which Areas Can Accure® Be Used?
Accure® can be used on any area affected by acne, including the face, back, chest, and neck.
